Diet
Conure's aren't picky about their foods in general(except Cisco). Being enormously curious and playful, they like a varied diet and should be provided with foods that offer a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Pellets that come in different shapes and colors are often prefered by "gourmet" birds over plain pellets. To be sure that your conure remains healthy, feed him what you are eating. Yes! That's right! I said feed him people food! Cisco loves anything with sugar in it. And he especially likes chicken.
Conures need the fats and calories from human food to maintain their health, but don't over do it! It's easy to let these little guys eat to their heart's content, but they will get fat and lazy if you let them eat too much. And they will become spoiled!

Cages/Supplies
Conures are active and playful birds, who need large cages to clamber around in. A large cockatiel cage will do fine for a single green cheek. Caution must be used though in the placement of the perches; if the conure's long tail rubs against the bars of the cage, the feathers will become ragged. Always give your conure lots of toys!!! They like toys they can destroy, like rawhide and rope... these will keep them from chewing up Great Grandma Sue's hand-knitted afghan. Try cat balls with the bell inside, he'll snatch it up in his talons and shake it. He'll especially delight in playing fetch with you as he throws the ball off the top of his cage and watches you retrieve it.
